How Can BCAA's Help You Lose Fat?

We work hard here at Fuse Fitness Coaching. When you workout or exercise at Fuse you begin to break down muscle which is good! You have to breakdown muscle so that you can make them stronger. If the rate of synthesis exceeds the rate of breakdown you gain muscle, however, when the rate of breakdown exceeds the rate of synthesis, you lose muscle.

When you workout whether you’re lifting, biking, running, sports training, you get the picture, you break down a lot of muscle! Why is all of this important for you to understand? In order to gain the maximum benefit of your work you need to ensure you’re getting some Branch Chain Amino Acids (BCAA) into your diet.

What do Branch Chain Amino Acids (BCAA) do?

BCAA’s stimulate protein synthesis to a greater extent than a normal protein on its own. BCAAs also increase synthesis (or blending) of the cellular machinery responsible for carrying out the process of protein synthesis. BCAAs not only increase the rate of protein synthesis, but they also increase the cell's capacity for protein synthesis!

Okay but why do BCAA’s matter?

BCAA’s not only help prevent muscle breakdown they actually help increase the rate of protein absorption and that helps build muscle which helps you burn more fat! You can eat lots of protein and veggies in your everyday diet but there are other factors that affect your body absorbing that protein. The other factors are water and fiber intake, sleep, stress, timing, gut health, etc. BCAA’s help to prevent muscle breakdown, which in turn, helps us build muscle as well as helps us burn fat. At the end of the day that is all we’re trying to do: BURN FAT.
